Baritone GEORG NIGL studied with Hilde Zadek.
Since then, performances have for example led him to the Bolschoi Theater Moskow, La Scala in Milan, the Hamburgische Staatsoper, the Zürcher Opernhaus, the Staatsoper Berlin, the Bayerische Staatsoper, the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées and the Niederlandse Opera Amsterdam as well as to festivals such as the Salzburger Festspiele, the Festival Aix-en-Provence, the Ruhrtriennale and the Wiener Festwochen. He hasn´t only earned recognition as a soloist in numerous premieres, but also as initiator for compositions and publications – for example by Pascal Dusapin, Georg Friedrich Haas, Wolfgang Mitterer, Wolfgang Rihm, Olga Neuwirth and Friedrich Cerha. Since 2014, Georg Nigl is professor for vocal studies at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik Stuttgart. In the 2015 critics´ survey of the magazine Opernwelt, he was appointed `singer of the year´. Recently, he performed Wozzeck, Orest, Don Fernando, Hexe, Lenz, Orfeo, Achilles and Kuligin.
